Choosing sealants and adhesives correctly: Soudal, Ceresit, Sika
For permanently durable bonds, product and substrate must match. Besides adhesion, elasticity, moisture resistance and application window are decisive.
Typical product groups
- Silicone: elastic, moisture-resistant, often for sanitary areas
- Acrylic: paintable, rather for lightly moving connection joints indoors
- Hybrid/PU adhesives: high adhesion for mounting and structural bonding
Selection by substrate
- Distinguish absorbent vs. non-absorbent surfaces
- Check primer requirement per data sheet
- Ensure compatibility with edge materials
Application in practice
Substrates must be load-bearing, clean and dry. Joint dimensioning, temperature window and curing time largely determine the end result.
Note: Product approvals and manufacturer technical data sheets are binding for the specific application.
