Tool cart buying guide for workshop and service vehicle
A tool cart is only efficient when its design and load capacity match the usage profile. Drawer system, rolling behaviour and load reserves are decisive.
Drawers and layout
- Several shallow drawers for hand tools and measuring equipment
- Deep drawers for power tools, batteries and specialist tools
- Full extension and central locking for quick access
Load capacity and stability
Total load capacity and permissible load per drawer matter. For heavy tools, rails, grab handles and cabinet should be reinforced.
Wheels and mobility
- Larger wheels run more smoothly over thresholds and joints
- Brakes on at least two wheels for secure positioning
- Oil- and abrasion-resistant tread materials for workshop floors
Plan accessories sensibly
Tool inserts, drawer dividers and a robust work top save search time and protect equipment long term.
Note: Manufacturer load ratings apply under defined conditions and should not be permanently maxed out in practice.
