When they took over a farm in Sirmione on southern Lake Garda in 1939, no one in the family thought about international recognition as a first-class wine producer. But the head of the family, Felice dal Cero, already demonstrated strong entrepreneurial skills back then and thus laid the foundation for the success of future generations. Felice, who spent his childhood in the Valpolicella wine-growing region near Verona, quickly realized after moving to Sirmione that his new land was ideal for growing wine. He therefore decided early on to focus primarily on wine growing. What may seem self-evident today was once a sensitive issue and involved significant risks. Lugana is now a respected name in the Italian wine scene; However, this was completely unknown at the time Felice started as a winemaker. In the early second millennium they expanded the existing vineyards around Lake Garda with an additional 11 hectares in Valpolicella sul Pian di Castagnè. In this way, Felice dal Cero's grandchildren have fulfilled another dream and paid respect to their Veronese roots by creating an Amarone called “Pietro Dal Cero” - a tribute to their father.
